Joanna was born in London and started learning piano at the age of 6. Her early career was in financial markets and then financial news, but she always loved music. She wrote for jazz magazine Straight No Chaser and was church organist at the English Martyrs R.C. Church in Wembley, North London for over ten years.
In 2008 she made a lifestyle change. She travelled, became a pianist in a hotel, and started a blog about music. In 2012 the blog was published as a coffee table book.
Joanna came to Queensland in late 2012. She works as a pianist for Ryan’s On The Park lounge bar and the Treasury Heritage Hotel, and for wedding ceremonies and private functions in churches, hotels and private homes in and around Brisbane. She was pianist and répétiteur for two Queensland musicals: “Breaking Up Is Hard To Do” and “Dusty The Original Pop Diva”, and played her melodica in a community orchestra for the Queensland Musical Festival in 2015. Elsewhere, she has reviewed events for Brisbane Jazz Club and entertainment magazine Scenestr.
Joanna teaches piano at King’s Christian College (campuses on the Gold Coast and Pimpama) and McAuley College in Beaudesert. She lives in the Scenic Rim.
She is available to play piano in Brisbane, the Gold Coast and the Scenic Rim. Please contact her here.
